General InformationWhat type of fuel do I use in my Honda Power Equipment?

For all Honda Power Equipment petrol powered engines, you should use regular unleaded petrol.

Using other fuels may cause more combustion chamber deposits. Maximum content of alcohol (ethanol) is 10%.

What should I do if I'm having problems with my Honda Power Equipment?
This is a general check list, so your particular equipment's starting procedure may vary from what is recommended below, but in general most engines start this way.

  • Is the engine switch in the on position?
  • Is the throttle in the correct position?
  • Is the choke on?
  • Ensure you have adequate oil in the engine. Oil alert models will not allow you to start an engine that is very low in oil.
  • Is the fuel tap on/or the fuel cap vent in the open position?
  • Is the petrol getting to the carburetor?
  • (To check, loosen the drain screw with the fuel tap on. Clean up any spilled fuel before any further checks)
  • Remove spark plug (clean any dirt from area first)
If your engine still will not start, take it to your nearest Honda Dealer for service.

FuelWhat oil do I use in my Honda Power Equipment?
We recommend a10W-30 SF SG spec oil as a minimum. Honda Power Equipment oil meets this specification and also has special additives for extra protection. This oil is good for all temperatures found in Australia (from -15 to +40)
6
How often should I change my oil?
Oil should be changed according to your owners’ manual - but more often in severe use or dusty conditions. We find that it is better to change the oil too often than not enough. Oil is cheap insurance against early engine failure.
